I was supposed to die in Chapter 42.
In my original life, I was Vish, the grand villainess of a dark fantasy. Ruthless, strategic, and wrapped in velvet and poison.
Then my author died, and apparently the universe decided that was my cue to stop following the script.
When she died, the ink dissolved, fiction shattered, and I was thrown into the real world with every memory and plot point intact.
More importantly, I had a choice- remain the tragic antagonist destined to die for someone else's climax, or finally live for myself.
So I became Vanisha, painfully ordinary-shy, awkward, and forgettable. Beneath the act, however, I was still Vish- sharp, darkly witty, and always calculating how to break someone's collarbone when they annoyed me.
Still, I had no intention of returning to my old ways. I wanted peace, cream buns, and a life so boring it would make an immortal deity yawn.
For a while, my plan worked perfectly-until amateur assassins ruined my pastry run. Their shootout threatened my precious cream buns, so I interfered....just a little.
Then I went home and forgot about it.
Unfortunately, the man I'd accidentally saved didn't forget me. Ranvijay Rathore, heir to a feared mafia empire, was also a devoted reader of the very book I had escaped from. I didn't know this information at first.
While I dismissed him as an irritating billionaire invading my quiet life, he was already playing a game of cat and mouse, determined to peel away my innocent persona and catch a glimpse of the villainess he knew from the pages.
I wanted a peaceful second life. Instead, I got a mafia heir who treats uncovering my secret identity like his favorite form of entertainment.
And unfortunately for him, I'm starting to remember how much fun being a villainess used to be.
