When, Kaida, an Illyrian female, is found being beaten by one of the Illyrian Lords, Azriel can't help but feel some connection with her, some need to protect from the harsh outside world. So, he takes her back to Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court, to decide what to do with her. From there, after abruptly find out that Azriel is her mate, Kaida trains to be strong, to protect herself, and maybe find herself too.
