Oldage Stories

Every few days, Bob's phone rings from a number he doesn't know. It's always Gus, an old friend whose memory is failing, saying hello as if for the first time. Bob keeps blocking the calls. Until he realizes one of Gus's forgotten messages holds a clue to his missing grandson. A warm, funny, heartbreaking mystery about the people we stop listening to. (Note: Contains themes of dementia, grief, and a child's disappearance)

Madonna sold more albums than any other female artist. She had just as many hits as the Beatles or Elvis. She is now 61 and still thinks she has a lot to give. The problem is she is getting old and cannot accept this. The public also thinks Madonna is old and new popstars now dominate the Charts. This is a fictitious story of Madonna's struggle on getting old and finding her place in the music industry today.

Harvey is moved to a nursing home in a new community against his will. Once there, he becomes familiar with a trio of other residents who encourage him to make one more journey in memory of his long-dead wife.

Have you ever witnessed a light so bright, that you almost convince yourself that you might have gone blind? So bright, that the afternoon sky sans clouds look pearly, glittering, as the sunlight gleams off of it. You feel your throat burn with every sip you take of your drink, music in the background muted by your thoughts, so loud. Your throat burns, it's on fire. He seems so close yet so distant. You see his face break into a smile. You cannot stop looking at him. The world around you is moving too fast. You're stuck in a dreamy haze as though you are high. What is happening? What is the truth? What is real?

This anecdote is a reflection of all the times that I have waited for something or someone, and all the things that I have learned in those times of wait. Things that I learned about myself, the way I think, and the way others think in moments where all you could do is stare at your surroundings, and talk to the person who is waiting with you.
