Logline: The choice before her was to die painfully or become a Banshee. The consequences of that decision took her farther than she ever imagined. Dramatic question: Will Agatha learn to be a proper Banshee, or will she return the gift and die a natural death, instead? Agatha was an ordinary sixteen-year-old, living on her family's farm in 1633 Ireland, and planning her wedding to Thomas, the son of the town baker Then, her father fell ill after a trip to town. Within days he was bedridden with open sores and a raging fever. Her mother then fell ill. Within two weeks, everyone in their small town had perished from the mysterious plague, and Agatha also lay feverish and dying. Until a stranger came to her bedside and offered her a chance to live. The cost would be high, though. The choice before her was to die painfully or become a Banshee. The consequences of that decision took her farther than she ever imagined. She will travel far from the country of her birth and face the discrimination of the upper classes against the lower, religious persecution, and the rapid approach of technology which causes people to cease to believe in magic. I was sixteen years old in 1633 when the plague hit our small village. There was one survivor.

Liam couldn't really know what a boat looked like. When imagining the tales of Gráinne Mhaol, Pirate Queen, he only had father's vague descriptions to go off.
