In the shadowy halls of Oletus Manor, five strangers gather, drawn by cryptic invitations promising life-changing rewards. Among them is Rue, a detached poet seeking a legacy, joined by a lawyer haunted by her past, a gambler desperate for redemption, and an eccentric comic artist fighting his own demons. What starts as an unusual gathering soon unravels into a sinister game where creativity becomes a weapon and survival demands more than talent.

It seemed as if everything had happened brief minutes ago, however, that was never the case when it came to the lives of those who dwell at Oletus Mental Hospital, 'Oletus Manor', as they preferred to call it. It had already been weeks, but time perception falters once you lack the motivation to seek for an escape, or once your own mind begins to betray yourself. All the patients had once received a letter with a big, maroon stamp on them, keeping them safe from unwanted eyes. They sought a goal back then and this mere objective would shortly become their misfortune. Distorted images of themselves found their way to the survivors' minds, those who had stayed strong match after match, having several different impacts on the soon to become patients... or were those memories trifling hallucinations and creations of their own, damaged minds? These thoughts remained the same in all four patients, despite the noticeable variations on their motivation to flee. It had never been a problem for Dr. Desaulniers, the hypnotist, to figure out which exact made-up memories were being displayed on his patients' minds as if it was a film roll. Nonetheless, Dr. Rorschach, the physician, seemed to agree with their urge to escape. * This fanfic is based on Season 6 Memory Essence's skins, so please keep that in mind.

However - Aesop has stayed in the manor for a year or so, surely he knows by then...? In the Oletus manor, things are not as they seem, and nothing - including happiness and secrets - can ever remain the same. Happiness rarely stays, and secrets are never kept silent. It's fine for survivors and hunters to be friends, but not for them to love each other - this is an unspoken rule. And now Joseph hates Aesop so much, for no reason... Finally, Aesop realises that perhaps survivors and hunters can never love each other... There are times when Joseph returns to him, only for him to lose Joseph again, over and over; Besides, none of the Josephs he gets back are the original one... Maybe he should let him go; the Joseph he loved is gone anyway... But can he? "J-Joseph, please... c-come back to me..." But wait... no, t-this can't be - ...who is Aesop looking for?
