The Big Variants aren't there because Big wasn't in the Olympics. And since Sonic Prime was after Sonic Advanced 3, they could show up at the Olympics with the other Sonic characters. Nine, Sails and Mangey have a huge role in this story since Tails was with Sonic. This involves their side of the story while the others remain the same. Same goes for the other Shatterverse Variants. The Chaos Council won't be there, because their long gone. When a mysterious colourful fog appears out of nowhere, Nine, Sails and Mangey encounter Toad and Omochao when it showed up. Now they start teaming up with Mario, Luigi, Sonic and Tails to solve the mystery of the fog.
