Wasn't he supposed to be dead?
Ouma felt himself die under the press, his ribs grinding together, blood filling his lungs and seeping out, yet now he was alive and once again trapped inside a locker. It is impossible for such an injury to heal completely, so there were only two possible options. A- Either everything that he experienced was a dream, or some sort of projection (no - projections do not create such a visceral pain). B- he had mentally time-traveled into the past. Considering that being locked in a locker was not an ordinary experience, the sheer amount of information that he collected throughout the killing game, and the fact that all the grooves of this particular space felt the same as the locker of his so-called dream, then the odds lean overwhelmingly in favor of the second option, (as impossible as that is).
Well, he thought with no small amount of hysteria, I guess I'm playing the white king this time
