A large, dark stage. Bare stone floor. Three pillars, broken and leaning inward, frame the stage like the ruins of an old temple. Faint torchlight. Wind moans low like a sleeping beast. At center stage: SEEEKER stands, draped in worn black robes. NONCONTENDER emerges from a side aisle. The Seeker is as his name tells, someone who seeks attention, affection and the growth of the relationship he has with the Noncontender. While the Seeker is showing his love, the Noncontender prideful, arrogant, unaware of what he could had, didn't saw love when he was searching for it under his nose.

The journey from shy to shine is like that butterfly's emergence. It's a shedding of inhibitions, a blossoming of confidence and self-expression. It might be the quiet student who finds their voice during a class discussion, the introverted artist who finally shares their work with the world, or the hesitant dancer who takes center stage and wows the audience.

"Deep in the emptiness of Pennsylvania there lies a tiny town. A town called Nightmare. Of it's few townsfolk- none know the story of how it got its most peculiar name, and while it isn't exactly a nightmare for the people who live there; the town does live up to its name in other ways. You see; for the townsfolk of Nightmare life is particularly mundane most of the time. Sally-Mae Johnson runs the beauty shop, Billy Smith manages the only 7/11 in town, Carter Martin bags groceries at the mom and pop store next to the community playground, and so on... life is relatively simple for the people who live in a town called Nightmare- or they've gotten used to the strange parts; at the very least."

In the eerie stillness after the final curtain, Mara Voss-once a dazzling star of stage and song-stands alone with nothing but the ghost light and the shards of her past. Haunted by memories of triumph and betrayal, she wrestles with the masks she wore, the roles she lost, and the price of a life lived in the spotlight's glare. Curtain Call and Confession is a haunting one-act solo play that weaves poetic reflection, surreal theatricality, and fierce defiance into a timeless tale of aging, identity, and artistic reckoning. Step behind the velvet curtains and into the fractured soul of an actress who must confront the ghosts of her own making-and find a freedom beyond the footlights.

When seventh grader Ivy Kepler watches a star disappear from the night sky, her first instinct is to tell her brother, August. Despite his intelligence, he is of no help to Ivy, so she decides to take her problem to the only other person she thinks knows more about science: her teacher, Mr. Fitzpatrick. This idea results in a hectic debate, a second nighttime stargaze, and more surprises than Ivy, her friends, and August can ever imagine. A one act play I had to write for my Creative Writing class.
