Opal hadn't known that she had powers until she embarked on a perilous adventure across the island of Pyrexia. And not just any power, the power of a Quartz! Something mysterious has set off the wrath of the VoidWings and Opal and her friends, Sea, Stardust and Drift set off across the continent to find out what's going on and stop it. Will they succeed or will the tribes be lost in shadows? A little snippet of my story. Sea slithered up and bared her fangs. Stardust walked up and illuminated her wings and Opal went in front of both of them already digging her claws into the earth. "Opal what are you doing!?" Sea and Moonstone asked. Opal said nothing and dug her claws harder. Small crystals started to grow at the entrance. The VoidWings stopped their assault and looked on with wide eyes. The crystals grew fast, covering the entrance to Unakite's main cave. Opal left a little hole to poke her head through. Instead Sea poked her head through and hissed loudly at the four VoidWings. Through the pale translucent crystals Opal could just about see all four VoidWings rift away.

Australian Opal typically comes in one of three forms: solid, doublet, or triplet. A Solid Opal is an untreated opal that is mined, shaped, polished, and sold or placed into jewellery as it is. Solid Australian Opal comes in at the highest price point and retains the most value given its ability to last a lifetime as long as it is handled with proper care. Next is Opal Doublets which feature a thin slice of solid Opal attached to a backing (typically ironstone or black potch) to enhance the wildfire of colour within the Opal slice. Doublets come in at the second highest price point and are good for those who have just discovered an interest in Opal Jewellery and want to own a few lasting pieces without the price point of a solid. However, one must be careful as over time the Opal slice can detach from the backing, so it is important to properly care for your Opal doublet jewellery. Lastly is Opal Triplets, which similar to doublets feature a thin slice of opal on a potch backing. However, the slice of opal on a triplet is often much thinner than that on doublets. Additionally, on triplets, A clear glass, quartz, or plastic capping in the shape of a dome is placed on top of the opal to give the stone a cabochon top. Triplets are the most affordable option, given their minimal Opal content and tendency to last for the least amount of time.
