PAUL I cheated on my fiancée. Sophie and I were building our future. In love, happy, peaceful. Then she found a lump in her breast, and I made the worst choice: I numbed my fear by sleeping with someone else. My worst mistake and my biggest regret. Now I see Sophie around town with him. She's radiant and laughing with people who actually show up. I'm trying to learn how to be a man who does. If she lets me, I'll spend the rest of my life proving I can choose her when it's hardest. If she lets me... SOPHIE I thought the promise was in sickness and in health. But he buried his fear in someone else. On the same night, I walked into a bookstore and met the gentle giant owner, who invited me to his book club full of misfits. I'm laughing again, I'm smiling more than I ever have, and I'm healing my heart. My bookstore owner keeps showing up like it's as easy as breathing. I don't know what the future holds; I don't know if I'll win this battle against cancer, but I do know I'm done wasting time on people who love only when it's easy. CALLUM She came into Rivers & Rhodes Bookstore and asked for books with happy endings only. I gave her a recommendation, an invitation, and an offer of friendship. Now, this beautiful, brave woman is completely under my skin. I'm not here to win a competition against him. I'm here because choosing someone, second by second, is the only way I understand love. 12/10/25 - Currently undergoing edits.

Set against the quiet contrast of two lives shaped by the same beginnings, this reflective short story explores class, resilience, and the power of language in shaping one's future. As Melani welcomes her old friend Janie onto the balcony of her luxury apartment-far removed from the decay and danger of the neighborhood they once shared-their conversation becomes a meditation on escape, self-worth, and the weight of believing in "never." Through vivid environmental contrasts and an intimate dialogue, the story examines how mindset, circumstance, and courage intertwine, ultimately challenging the idea that one's starting point determines their ending.

"In the Real World, we call it inspiration. Here, we call it magic." After months of bouncing around in foster care, protecting her autistic brother and waiting for their grieving alcoholic dad to get his act together, Samantha Park is done with broken promises. She doesn't have the energy for optimism anymore. The best she can do is stick with Michael and keep what's left of her family in one piece, day by day. Until one night, Michael drags her along with him to follow a "magic firefly" into the woods. Next thing she knows, they've been whisked into Owl City: an imaginary musical world where alligators can fly, owls can talk, and the clouds taste like fruit candy. And it seems it's not the first time her brother has been here. It's a wondrous city, but the peace is short-lived. Hurricanes are on the horizon. Wolf attacks are increasing. The fireflies are disappearing. Worst of all, a heavy darkness is covering the sky. And the mysterious man behind the magic - Owl City himself - is being targeted. Sam, Michael, and all their new friends soon learn that this place is just one corner of a vast universe, one light in an age-old struggle between hope and despair, and it is up to each of them to fight for the outcome. For the line between the Imaginary and the Real World is much thinner than anyone knows. The force that wins will shape the destiny of both. And, Reader, just so you know - the good guys might need your help.

It's now 2037, and it has been seventeen years since IT came and changed the whole world's way of living. For people living in the nation of Unus, their lives now revolve around following the rules put into place by President Jax. He has expressed the importance of everyone in the nation following the rules because it's what keeps them safe and it's what helps to separate the good ones in the nation called the 'thrivers' from THEM. To help see to it that the thrivers are doing their part for the betterment of Unus, President Jax has put together a special task force called the Corowatchers. Refusal to follow the rules and it's off to THAT PLACE for thrivers to spend the rest of their lives in exile with THEM. For 16 year-old Emersyn Wren, this is what her life revolves around, living to survive and surving to live. For her it's simple, keep your head down and do what you're suppose to do and everything will be fine, or so she thinks. When things begin to happen in her state and around the nation that pose a threat to every thriver's survival, everything she believes in is put to the test as she struggles to keep her family together, has to deal with the number one girl she can't stand at Monthill High, Frankie Jo, and her friends, she uncovers secrets, and she befriends the school loner, Brock Hensley.

Daisy Mae always seems to find the bright side, even when it seems impossible. Optimistic and determined to make the world a little better, daisy does nothing short of that. With her charming personality, childish ways, and southern belle nature, it's no surprise that one might wonder how she became so positive in such hard times. Daisy Mae always enjoys the little things in life, getting her happiness from small everyday things and making for a thoroughly enjoyable young woman. But why does she always find joy in the little things? Maybe, it's because if you have no reason to be happy, and nothing positive in your life, you turn to the smallest of things to seek happiness. Maybe it's because you want to avoid the crushing reality of the world. Maybe, you're Like a flower growing through the pavement. Or, maybe you're just born that way, you decide.

[content warnings for implied/mentioned self harm, self hatred and suicidal ideation. applies to later poems not yet uploaded] feedback welcome and appreciated!

An elderly man of 60 particularly despised and detested the whole concept of novels. He shrewdly believed that the public should circumvent devoting priceless hours to reading fabricated intellect based on various genres. However, it only took a few moments of deep judicious consideration and a slight touch of nerve to alter his life completely. The Power of Perception is both a very inconsistent and spectacular element of the human brain. Delve and venture into the hostile sea of our journey to explore and exploit his story, but remember; swim with the current. Find out what mystery is in store for this victim, what treasures desperately await to be unencased.....
