Optimist Stories

In which there is a debate between an optimist and a pessimist. If you don't know what either means, don't be embarrassed. An optimist always thinks that the world is full of hope. The pessimist will just shake his head and say, "Nope". So do you think it's right to believe everything is great every day? Or see that everything is more worse than the next in every single way? A poem submitted for the Everything is Awesome Scholarship Slam 2015.

I grieve because I have known light and lost it. The grief contrasts with the beauty of this world. If there was once light, it can come again.

a simple girl discovers the depths in a complex boy

"Why do people resort to using others when they feel as though getting near them would entail they would receive fair share of one's blessings? What does paying high respects, to an individual with higher status, do to make people presume they know of them? Is it not leading to treating them like the other? Why don't people try and remove the huge barricade they have set up for me? Why can't I be treated as an equal?" Drina Feasley, past optimism, has decided to change. Realizing that the world would not change as she hoped-- following her friends' betrayal, Drina refuses to be swayed by pathetic, sweet nothings again. This would be the coldest Christmas she would ever encounter, and she is set to maintain the cold in her heart. Twenty year old Logan Spier decides to permanently reside on his hometown, Ackelbridge, a place where he sought himself, after his father's abuse. And maybe give his warm gratitude to a long lost childhood friend that has never failed to encourage him in his past-- his worst times, and has continued being an inspiration to him still. But Logan was not expecting a surprise when he realizes his friend no longer exists, and is replaced a cynical girl, with a frown permanently pasted on her face. He quickly realizes that he was gone for long, and decides to get to know the Drina now. Understanding her could be harder than he first thought, but it would be worth it as Drina's heart thaws, giving him a glimpse of the girl she had once been, the experiences that had shaped her, and the young woman she is now. Christmas this year would be a blast-- the looking forward to spending it alone, the unexpected reunion of childhood friends, and a short reminder Christmas is not about the gifts, the friends, the celebration, the preparation or the inevitable presence of loneliness-- but about love and sacrifices.

Only the darkest of shadows stand to prove the existence of the brightest of lights.

A writer's journey to self creation and self destruction.

"He might not have no possession, One might simply mistook him as a meagre passer by, But for me, I firmly believe, He is no less than a blessing, his arms my paradise, For he is my Knight in shining armour in disguise...." As November rolls in, with an auspicious wind of festivities around the world, there could be no more meaningful celebration than confessing our utter gratitude to our loved ones.

Nobody knows the way I feel when I'm alone. I'm just an ordinary girl. People say I'm beautiful, skinny. That's never been enough. I've been called pretty many times but they just whisk over my head. I'm called fat maybe a few times. It's etched in my memory like stone. I'm anorexic. To some they barely notice. To others it sticks out like a sore thumb. This is my story, The Real Me

When everything's negative, always remember that all will have a shadow of their own. We just need to stay in a place where there is no darkness.
