Michael is just a screwed up sixteen-year-old kid from a broken home when the speed first hits him. One night after another screaming match with his drugged out mom, he stares too long in the mirror and suddenly the world skips. He moves faster than his own reflection. Faster than anything should. What starts as accidental bursts quickly turns into something he can't turn off. The power is raw, painful, and completely untrained. Every time he pushes it, his veins burn violet and his head feels like it's splitting open. He runs away from home with nothing but a backpack full of random things, sleeping in shelters and alleys, stealing food just to eat. The city keeps turning while he tries to figure out if this curse is something he can actually use or if it's just going to get him killed. The explosive first installment of The Amethyst Outrider follows Michael Williams utilizing his newfound powers and learning how to stand up when every part of his life is trying to knock him down.
