I was standing in the middle of a forest. It was nighttime, the sky was pitch black and the full moon was the only light that fell upon the earth. The only sounds to be heard was the crickets chirping and the wind making the trees dance and the rustling of leaves. I turned in a slow circle, there was trees all around me and through them, was a small clearing in which I could hear hushed whispers. I walked silently toward the sound and I could make out two voices; a man and a woman. As I got closer I saw that there was a beautiful pond surrounded by colorful flowers and on the bank, there was a bench and a lamp post. On the bench sat a woman, with dark curly hair. It was short and came just a little past her chin; she had on a pink slouch hat and threw her head back laughing at something the man beside her whispered in her ear. She wore a pearl pink dress that ended just below her knees, and black cut outs. The young woman- no girl- I noticed was wearing short white gloves and she held a small black clutch in her hand. Her legs were crossed at her ankles and she was sitting up straight, in a perfect lady-like posture. All I could see of the man was his black suit and his gloved hand which was placed atop the girls. Their clothes and manners hinted that they were from a different time, in the early 1900s perhaps. Something caught the young girl's attention and she snapped her head back and focused her dark eyes toward the cluster of trees that stood merely 12 feet behind her. I knew with such scarce light and all that distance she couldn't have possibly seen anything, but she looked straight at something- Straight at me.
