When Osman was only 13, his father made a deal with Umur Bey. He was to marry Umur Bey's daughter, so the tribes would be united. Now, 15 years later, they were married. But it was when Osman Bey met Bala Hatun, he knew what love meant. This story takes place in season one of Kurulus Osman, as Osman and Bala struggle to overcome their love for each other. She grew up around his sons, thinking them of brothers. However, one of the brothers never failed to impress her with his skills. Growing up, she took a shine to Osman, but he soon found a woman called Bala. She accepted it, and always sided with Bala against her cousin, Aygul. However, when her beloved father, Ertugrul Bey, dies, she reads his will.
