A small steady beat of an unrested heart echoes through his head as the path starts to part. Further and further he runs from home, deeper and deeper into the Unknown... Another poem! I recently asked my father what he thought The Unknown was (after watching the series of course), and what he replied with was extremely intriguing. He said it was adolescence, how Wirt and his step brother Greg are both going through love, loss, hurt, confusion and happiness; learning more and more as they progress through their youth and discovering new things about themselves.

It's been years since Wirt and Greg had gotten lost in the Unknown, yet Wirt still has nightmares every night. His hometown only reminds him of it, especially the graveyard he passes everyday. He can't make it through fall without having an anxiety attack. Halloween is the worst. So one year, he leaves so he doesn't have to look at all of it any longer. Greg refuses to let him go on his own, so they both get their stuff together one night and leave for a very long road trip to any place that's unfamiliar, any place that doesn't make Wirt think about what happened only just a few years ago.
