"Faith isn't the absence of a struggle, it's the choice to keep fighting when the world tries to pull you under." For many, the years are defined by growth and companionship. For me, they have become a battlefield. From the sudden onset of health crisis to the quiet, persistent whispers of doubt and mental health struggles, the path of faith has been anything but easy. Between the Hymns and Hardships, chronicles a journey of learning that even when the adversary tries to block the way, there is a way to find grace in the chaos. This is the testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the strength found when we refuse to let our hardships define our testimony.

This short story is written in part with E. L. F. Cosmetic's #EyesLipsFierce story contest. For far too long, women have had to fight for the right to be treated as equally and fairly as their male counterparts. This piece is a homage to not only Shirley Chisholm but to all of the courageous female pioneers who broke barriers and paved the way for me and all future generations. To female leaders and trailblazers everywhere: Thank You!

"Maybe, just maybe, I can do both lives too. But that'll mean abandoning the peace and quiet that comes from dwelling in His presence," I mumbled, constantly pacing about the entire room. It was a constant back and forth. One moment I was back there, and then another moment I would find myself asking God for forgiveness of sins that I had vowed never to commit again. I wondered how come I left from preaching at the altar and winning souls to dressing almost half-naked and looking for the opposite gender to mingle with. It was so bad to the point that these attitudes started becoming oblivious to me and I was slowly being swallowed by the other side. The world. It didn't take rocket science for a member of our church to understand that I wasn't myself anymore. My speech, my actions, my carelessness, my absence in voluntary work, and in helping my parents with ministerial matters. My spiritual gifts died, I lost my ability to interpret the scriptures and I skipped church services without knowing. Worst of all, the more I thought about those things, the more I did them as my justifications for my actions only pushed me. "Betty, we've been waiting. Are you coming?" Ava's questioning brought me back to earth, causing my pacing to stop. Last weekend was amazing, I thought. It felt good to dance with Asher. I closed my eyes, releasing the breath I didn't know I'd been holding. "Yes," I opened my eyes. "Yes, I am. Let's go."

She can feel the intense vibrations as the helicopter comes in for a landing. The obnoxious "whop- whop" as it slowly descends to the pad has stopped her in her tracks. She looks up at the marvelous machine as she stands on the top of the parking garage. As she peers into the sunset she is in aww that her life is this. She is so used to things falling apart but in this moment, she realizes that everything is ok. All of the trials that she underwent have led her to this. Her new beginning. If you would have asked her just 10 years ago where her life was going to be, she would have never dreamed this to be it. As she gazes at the medical personnel exiting the copter with patient in tow, she can't help but think that this perfect stranger is going through a truly life changing event, and is being brought to this hospital to receive the highest quality care and she is a part of it all. Something about the realization has her overwhelmed with pride. She lowers her neck to line up with the front door, adjust her bag on her shoulder and begins her trail inside.

What happens when God and The Devil have a child, well you get me. My name in Indigo but everyone calls me Indi, I was given the name by my birth parents before they kicked me to earth when I was six, because of my purple eyes. My mother said I was too evil and my father I was too good so the only place I could go was earth where mortals lived. Obviously I'm not completely mortal though, I can be hurt but I still have my powers, which is helpful most of the time. I was left to fend for myself that is until now. OC and Avenger's crossover. Disclaimer- I do not own the Avengers as much as I would love to. I do however own Indi and the characters like her, plus the plot line. (Wrote this in covid times kinda shit but maybe worth the read) TW: swearing, abuse.

This is just a bunch of stuff I wrote. Recently, I've become more fond of poetry, and I thought about writing one every day to add to this collection. I hope that you know you're not alone and that you're loved. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory - 2 Corinthians 4:17 KJV

My whole world was shattered. My heart was broken. I was depressed. I was alone and I was falling apart. My constant internal monologue was "I can't do this". Until I proved to myself that I could. Until I proved that I was an overcomer.
