I starred at the five white pills in my palm. Tears slowly rippled down my cheeks and dripped onto my chest. This was my third day in a row doing just this. The house was completely empty, just like usual at this hour. A final warm tear trickled down my face and dripped on my black flannel. ******** Rosalie is a high school student that lives at her best friend Brooke's house. Imagine never having a place to truly call home. Never finding inner peace, and always attached to a past capable of driving you mad. Maybe then you would consider putting yourself in the shoes of the one who experiences this. ** Switching between cities has proven to be difficult for the termed 'unsociable' protagonist who does her last year of high school at a day/boarding school that just screams out unavoidable drama and is mostly filled with misfits and troubled youths. Ashlee Brooks is able to light up a room with merely a smile, depending on how often one leaks out. She often tends to display her abrasive side due to self-doubt. Well, don't we all have our demons to face? She strives to abandon the very predictable darkness of her bitter past and to the unforeseeable light of the future. She fends for herself in the best possible ways she can, and develops independence and self-reliance in the process. Alone and unloved, these words are far too familiar to her, as she is defined by them and thinks she is alone and unloved in the world. Childhood is never a blessing when you have an alcoholic and abuser as a father and an uncaring and supposedly acknowledged stranger for a mother. Nicholas Parker, a rich, cocky brat who believes that the world revolves around him. He spends his time manipulating females, all just to mask the pain he feels; when will this one ever get a taste of his own medicine? He possesses the qualities of most of the players of the game; arrogant, reckless, and extremely irritating. Although, he is not to be misjudged by anyone. It isn't always sunshine and rainbows for him behind closed doors and things don't always go his way. Life has other plans, and believe it or not, fate always gets its way. Through all the adversities of life, hope can always be found in despair, light amid darkness, and love in disguise of hatred.
