The year is 2017, in California. The world has all but ended, due to the Uprising of drones - machines that took over after being mistreated for many years. The story focuses on Elyjah - a young woman who is fighting against all odds, along with the memories that won't seem to leave her alone. She's constantly consumed by guilt, and is left with a group of survivors after their previous leader dies. Elyjah doesn't think it can get much worse until Caim, her fiance who she thought had been killed, returns as a hybird. Faced with one of her worst nightmares, Elyjah must struggle against the urge to give into her fear, and to fufill the promise that she had made to Caim long ago; to kill him, should his eyes ever be turned red.
