In Ash's attempt to escape he was fatally wounded. His Charizard carried him and his Pikachu to safety. This all happened on his birthday. When he came back from Alola. After the betrayal Ash became selectively mute. Only if he has a strong feeling will he be able to over come it. Ash died to the world. But he lived and trained for 4 years. He trained so he could one day show those how saw him as weak wrong. To show the world the power of Ash Ketchum. One thing they got right was that on that day. The day of his birthday Ash did die. The one they knew anyway. That day a new Ash Ketchum was born. The son of Sir Aaron.
