While fighting Sans, Frisk caught him off guard, and ended him. Frisk, being who she is, cried and tried to help him. As Sans was about to turn to ash, he said something, "I'll be fine kiddo. Just reset everything will be fine, I'll make sure. Hopefully the next timeline isn't....cat-astrophic." Yes, it was a pun intended...but didn't it seem more like a warning, or a call? But is was. Instead of there being two brothers, there are three, but one a girl. Everyone is a type of animal, even the skeletons. Gaster is in eager of getting revenge on Frisk. And Chara, she's good, and a mouse? Everything was different, who made this happen? Was it Chara? Did Frisk do something wrong? Did Gaster effect the timeline? Who?

Now since they are on the surface and they- Alphys, Undyne and Mettaton- have been visiting the skeleton brothers, Papyrus is falling more in love with him by the second. But what about Mettaton? Everyone's on the surface. Frisk brought back Asriel. Everything was grand, except their monster family started ignoring them. At the beggining they just thought it off, until their birthday when everyone gave Asriel presents instead of them. Asriel kept on bulling them, so they did what they first thought of... they ran away. They took their favorite book, Undercast, an adventourus book by Lilac Sky, the best author of 201X. They ran until they reached a park and met a nice person named Y/n. What happens when the only birthday present they get that one year is one they've been wishing their whole life, and it was granted by a stranger. The barrier was broken not too long ago. None of the monsters really knew how or why, but now they were free to roam the Surface. He had been waiting his whole life to be free and become the star he had always dreamed of being, but not just in the Underground. The Surface is his new audience. But that wasn't just it. After getting settled in, he discovered the tall, hilarious, and adorable skeleton that just happened to be living next door.

This is a sort of Papyrus x Mettaton fanfic, but it doesn't really take place in the official Undertale story. I mean, the characters, the settings, and all that are all the same. I mean it's just kind of separate from the canon story.
