To open the eyes is not to believe, to live never was to breathe. Why do not we like what we feel? The adjustment is invisible and is in the perception of the waves.

The Prologue from my novel, Before the Dawn. Part 1 of the Paradigm Shift series. A science fiction action story with elements of cyberpunk. Set in the closing years of the 21st century. In the aftermath of the third world war, the western world has reached utopia. All under the ever watchful eye of the Grid. This is the short story (also the prologue of the complete novel) as told by Alistair Jean-Paul, CEO and founder of Xenon Enterprises. I plan more short stories, stories that I do not wish to feature as full length novels. Stories of minor characters, or points of view not mentioned in the series. Or maybe just clarifications of potential plot holes etc. Hope you enjoy. God is dying, and the world is crumbling with him. He needs a successor, but can't find the right person, so he sends word out to one hundred and thirty three people to settle amongst themselves who shall take his throne, but things get out of hand once people begin realizing the scale of the situation. Some go crazy while others try and prepare for the end of the world, and there are even some who don't want to fight at all.... and one of those people happens to be Chiwa Myre, a high school senior. Things don't get easier when she finds out her classmate, and her best friend's crush, Harvey, swears he'll keep her safe, even though he's her enemy. She won't hurt anybody- or will she if it means she could bring her deceased mother and brother back from the grave?
