Participatoryculture Stories

In this essay, I discuss how learning can happen outside of classrooms from after school programs all the way to online Otaku communities. Using personal interviews and research I was able to connect these participatory cultures and show how they are educational. Youth learn in so many different ways including social interactions, mentors and digital engagement. Whether its online or offline, youth are able to blur the boundaries of learning.

I've been thinking about how learning isn't just something that happens in a classroom-it's everywhere. From sparring on the Jiu Jitsu mat to diving into otaku communities like the Reki-jo, the best learning happens when curiosity, passion, and community come together. This reflection explores how these participatory spaces show us what the future of education could really look like.
