Defense Against the Dark Arts can be rather boring when Snape is filling in for the teacher who mysteriously wasn't there. What better way to ease the bordom that to pass notes with the so called enemy?

In a world stricken by war, the world faces its biggest challenge yet: World War III. Led by the Communists *the rest is spoiler material*. A groups of seven kids learn what it means to be survivors of the physical world and the mental one. These kids are faced not only with surviving a war, but a typical teenage life. This story has been rated PG-13 for strong language, some sci-fi descriptions, some violence, and some sensuality.

The four teens Ashton, Ray, Jayde, and Arian have been by each other's side since the beginning. This is a short story I wrote for an anthology at a Teen Writer's Workshop I did over the summer. I wanted to see if I could escape my typical dark, gory writing style and write something touching and intimate. In short, it's about a woman named Alice, her son Dillon, and the terrible event of the past that shapes the course of their lives.
