Felix Swift is a teenager with a big problem; He just can't stay awake. And falling asleep at the wrong moment has already caused him more trouble in the past year than most people will ever experience. Relocating to the countryside with his family brings with it a whole new set of problems. Missing persons, freak storms, crop circles, all-night raves, the local gang, not to mention the challenge of baby-sitting his annoying little brother. His time in the 'arse-end of nowhere' is proving to be every bit as wild as his years growing up in South London. But as Felix soon discovers, village life also holds the keys and the clues to the adventure of a lifetime, and an opportunity to nurture the seeds of friendships that will last forever. ***************************************************************************** Dear Readers, If you are enjoying The Brightlings, please don't forget to vote for each chapter, and feel free to comment (provided you don't post spoilers). Receiving the tiny little stars and additional interaction really spurs me on, and certainly helps to point more people towards my story. I'd love to hear from you, if you like what you are reading, but I'm afraid that I can't promise an instant reply as I'm pretty flat out these days. Finally, it really shouldn't need to be written here, but just a quick note with regards to intellectual copyright and my use of this platform to write/publish The Brightlings; All rights reserved. This work is all of my own creation, and I retain the right to publish it elsewhere, or to remove it from this platform at any time in the future should I choose to do so. ---- I will not accept any excuses from those that copy or intend to pass this work off as their own, or republish it elsewhere without my permission. ---- Ok.... so now that is out of the way, there's nothing left to say, except "buckle up, hold on tight, and enjoy the ride!" A story of lost letters, missed chances, and a Borana woman's lifelong secret. Halima thought time and marriage, had buried her first love. But when she returns to her Borana village decades later, the old acacia tree still keeps their secret letters. In its branches lie memories of stolen glances, whispered promises, and a land shaped by drought, cattle raids, and the winds of change. Every yellowed page forces her to confront the life she lived, the love she lost, and the choices she never could undo. Will she find closure, or will the tree hold her heart hostage once more?

These tales are my attempt to combat the 'slings and arrows' of outrageous fortune, and in doing so free my mind to explore the vastness of individual creation. To contemplate the labyrinths of that mind and the thought processes we take for granted everyday. In a word, 'dream'. Welcome to my world of fantasy and let me lay bare some of my hitherto unspoken thoughts. I will be your host and supply you with the word pictures that you, yourself shall paint. In the writings that are about to follow you are requested to play a major part, in that without your full co-operation the hallucinations that could be created by these works will not materialise. These works are simple exercises in hallucination, each as it enfolds draws for you a word picture, the colouring of that picture is left to your imagination. They will reach down into the self that is YOU...and in some cases remind you of things you had long since forgotten. In other cases they will challenge your beliefs, but in all cases they will give you something to think about. New concepts, new angles to view what we call life.... hopefully they will supply food for thought. Your journey through the images these writings create...... can start here.... the choice is yours! Pastoral mediation is a type of mediation that involves a trained mediator who has a background in pastoral care and ministry. The mediator, often a pastor or chaplain, uses their knowledge of pastoral care to provide a safe and respectful environment for parties to communicate and work towards a resolution. In contrast to traditional mediation, pastoral mediation takes into account the spiritual and emotional needs of the parties involved. It acknowledges the importance of faith, values, and beliefs in resolving conflicts and seeks to honor those aspects of the parties' identities. Through pastoral mediation, parties can work towards restoring relationships and finding healing, rather than simply resolving legal or financial issues. The mediator may offer spiritual guidance and support, prayer, and scripture readings as part of the mediation process. Sharing a short article about your experience with pastoral mediation can be a valuable contribution to the field. It can help others understand the benefits and unique aspects of pastoral mediation and encourage more people to seek this type of mediation for their conflicts.
