He almost never spoke in class unless he was forced to, which often resulted in a panic attack. Then he met Patton. Patton was the golden boy. Everyone loved him. And it's not hard to see why. He's always smiling, he's nice to everyone, gets good grades, just all around perfect. Will Patton be put off by his silence, or will something new become of it? Something...anxiously perfect.

And like that, there was someone every day. Virgil listened to their tale, he made them turn away. And yet there was no one who would do this for him. No way he could let out all this pain Trigger warnings for insecurity, eating disorders, self harm, and suicide/major character death

After a year of knowing your soulmate a heart appears in the center of your hand it is in their favorite color. Whenever your soulmate thinks of you a smaller accompanys it. After you share a kiss with your soulmate the hearts all disappear and a tiny one appears next to your eye. Virgil notices a heart appears on his hand. Every day after that a tiny heart appears. Patton gets so happy to see a heart appear on his hand. He notices that smaller hearts will appear multiple times in one day. He starts to wonder who thinks of him so much.

Two boys with drastically different upbringings, styles, attitudes, and interests are paired up as roommates. Neither expected it to go the way it did. Virgil had a relatively good life, aside from the crippling dysphoria and anxiety he experienced. His father was supportive of everything he ever did. When he came out as trans, he was accepted without hesitation. Nobody ever really bothered him, and he never bothered anyone. But he was lonely. He hadn't made many friends, and as he got older, his anxiety got worse, and it prevented him from making any new friends. And so, he set off to college right after high school, completely alone. Patton's at home life had never been the best. As the second oldest, the expectations for him were high. His older brother had let his parents down hundreds of times. He dabbled in drugs and became a very ugly person as it began to corrupt him. Patton was left to set a perfect example for his two younger siblings while also trying to make sure that they were safe from the older brother's violent outbursts. In addition, he was forced to hide his identity from his abusive homophobic father, who had threatened to kill his children if they ended up being gay. Patton relied on the few close friends he had to keep himself sane. He was overjoyed to finally be getting out of the horrible household, but terrified of what was to come. The two boys, however different they may be, now have the opportunity to start something beautiful as they learn, grow, and help each other through a new chapter in their lives.
