Unrequited Pearlrose angst, that is all this fanfiction is. Only read if you are prepared to watch an autistic lesbian suffer. Slightly uncooperative with canon.

At the end of the war, Rose and Pearl bond over the memories of defending freedom of expression and the Earth. Pearl's feelings for Rose Quartz grow and Rose plays along, until neither of them are as close as they once were.

Note: This was planned out in 2017. One of the primary elements in this was how Lapis left. This fit perfectly in the cannon of the show, until Reunited aired, causing Lapis to return much earlier than expected. Consider this as an AU where Lapis didn't come back yet. When Peridot comes into the temple after a fun winter day with Amethyst, she sees the gems and her human friends decorating their home for the holidays. Peridot finds the whole thing, well, cloddy. Connie decides to tell her own version of the classic Christmas tale, "A Christmas Carol," hoping that it'll help Peridot see how important the holiday is. -Rated T for darker themes and swearing (This is a very modern parody) Steven Universe belongs to Rebecca Sugar

When Amethyst was taken out of the Kindergarten by the Crystal Gems, Rose was neglecting Pearl for a new lover. Because of this Pearl took Amethyst as her new lover, but over time Amethyst realizes that she'll never be to Pearl what Rose is to her. Yet years after Rose's passing, Pearl makes one last attempt to have Amethyst.
