When most people saw a scowling, stubborn girl who could shoot a bow and arrow, glowing in the spotlight the Captiol forced on her, he saw a hurting girl whose beauty arose from the ashes of loss and pain. Survival isn't the point this time. Katniss is all that matters now. Peeta had said all the necessary good-byes, letting the few people left he loved out of his heart and locking the door behind them. If he dies and she lives, how can that be anything but good?

The story of the Hunger Games BEFORE the epilogue.

Peeta Mellark's experience in the Hunger Games. This is what I imagined happened feel free to have your own interpretation. Expect not best written as it is my first fanfic and I am not an experienced writer, so I'll do my best.

Hi everyone! My name is Lily Brookes and I am a HUGE fan of the Hunger Games (I think this is because I relate to Katniss. We look similar and I have done archery since I was 8!) I think the books are incredible and I love seeing such a strong beautiful female character! Anyway this story is set just after Mockingjay and is about Katniss and Peeta growing back together. I have added in some exciting plot twist as well . "How can you not see how I feel about you," Finnick shouted desperately, his green orbs boring into Kaianna's longingly, "after everything we've been through! Do you really not know?" Kaianna shook her head, in a way begging him to take it back. But, he wouldn't. Finnick wouldn't take it back, and he didn't care the cost. Not in the way she did. Not anymore. "Do you really think I don't," She cried, frustrated at the man's poor timing, "I can't love you Finnick-" "Because you're scared," He retorted loudly, "why are you so scared?" "Why are you so not," Kaianna's voice finally cracked, shocking Finnick to his core. He had never seen the girl cry, and now he was the sole reason for it, "loving you, will only make it harder to let you go." "Then love me anyway," Finnick shrugged, as if following the suggestion would be the easiest in the world. To him it was, "just love me anyway, and then you'll never have to let me go."

Ryan watched the two babies for a while longer, already noticing a bond they seemed to have. Out of all the babies there, they were the only two holding hands. A Huger games au in which Katniss and Peeta become friends in school and navigate the dark horrors of the world together.
