WHEN PEETA MELLARK IS CHOSEN TO COMPETE IN THE HUNGER GAMES THERE IS NO GOING BACK. HE SEES THIS AS A DEATH SENTENCE BUT WHEN KATNISS EVERDEEN VOLUNTEERS FOR HER YOUNGER SISTER PRIM, PEETA'S WORST NIGHTMARES BECOME TRUE. WILL PEETA SACRIFICE HIMSELF FOR KATNISS OR WILL THEY BOTH FIND A WAY TO BEAT THE CAPITOL AND STAY ALIVE? ps. I know that this story doesn't have as many views as other stories but it's because it's quite new, so please read! :)

Peeta Mellark is just a baker's son before his name is called at the reaping for the annual and barbaric Hunger Games, where teenagers are forced to kill or be killed, with only one to remain as victor. The biggest twist of all is that he's going in with Katniss Everdeen--the girl he's had a crush on for forever.

The crowd's initial alarm at our appearance quickly changed to cheers and shouts of "District Twelve!" Every head was turned our way; every eye was trained on us. I froze up, terrified of all the attention, until I caught a glimpse of Katniss beside me. In the deepening twilight, the firelight illuminated her face. She seemed to be leaving a trail of fire behind her. I saw her lift her chin, put on her most winning smile, and wave with her free hand. Katniss was radiant, her figure wreathed in flames. She noticed me staring, and glanced at me with a small smile before looking back out at the crowd and blowing kisses. That smile brought a grin to my lips, and I waved to the crowd as well, filled with an odd glow, my fingers intertwined with Katniss'. The crowd screamed our names, desperate for our smiles and waves. No one will forget us. Katniss and Peeta. The girl on fire. And the boy in love. ***** Peeta has always hated his mother. Peeta has always baked bread. And Peeta has always loved Katniss Everdeen. Only one problem: she doesn't know he exists. But when Peeta gets a chance to save her, can he give up everything?
