*Summary:* Elena Daniels, a London teen who hates parties, reluctantly agrees to go to a school party thrown by the "hotties and baddies" after her friend Kira keeps begging. With her mom out for the night, Elena wears a skin-tight pink gown Kira gave her, feeling uncomfortable and exposed. At the party, things go badly - Elena ends up flabbergasted and betrayed, slamming her door at home and fighting tears. While wondering who's at the door, she opens it to find Jace Wills, a boy from school and the "masked idiot" from the party. The scene cuts off right as Kira barges into Elena's room before the party, calling her "hot" and trailing off when she sees Elena's disgust. *Core tension:* Elena hates parties + feels betrayed by something that happened at the party, and now Jace has shown up at her door.
