This will be a series of one off, stand alone short stories where people end up with a punishment of some kind. Each chapter will be a new story and each will be unrelated to the last with different characters

Cassie's mother receives the death penalty for violently murdering Cassie's father after finding out about an affair he has been having. Nine years later Cassie discovers more about her mothers personality when she finds her mothers old journals, scrap book and photographs. She finds out about her mothers haunting secrets along with some of her fathers as well.

The text talks about the invention and use of the guillotine. It was originally written in Portuguese and aimed at children and adolescents, so whenever a less colloquially used term appears, a synonym is immediately placed next to it in brackets. The idea is to quickly facilitate the understanding of the sentence and enrich the children's vocabulary. The idea does not always work when the text is translated into another language. Terms that are less commonly used in everyday life in Portuguese may be widely used in another language, and vice versa. At the end of the text, there is an addendum with a fun quiz about what was seen in the text, to help memorize what was learned.
