Hattori Zen, Captain of the Iga Obake Unit, was executed by his own clan for knowing too much. But death had other plans. His soul awakened in the body of Sena-a frail, oppressed 15-year-old orphan who had died in the Harau Valley, Sumatera, at the exact same moment as Hattori. Sena had lived under the harsh rule of the Singhasari kingdom, forced into backbreaking labor.
In this strange new land, Hattori faces a harsh reality: he is no longer a weapon of war for his clan, but instead becomes the only hope for an oppressed people. Though his body is weak, he retains the mind and awareness of a master shinobi. Slowly, he begins to weave a web of shadows and death, swearing never again to be anyone's tool.
At first, Hattori only seeks to avenge Sena-an act of gratitude for borrowing the boy's body and name in his second life. But he soon finds himself drawn into a far greater conflict.
He once believed Sena's revenge would be simple: merely killing Purwa Wangsa and Jeliteng, a personal matter easily settled. Yet fate pulls him deeper, into the tangled struggles of kingdoms and the complexities of guerrilla resistance.
"History may not record my name, but my shadow shall give birth to the one who unites this land."
One promise, two lives-and the birth of an archipelago legend.
In Japan, he was known as the Black Wolf.
In Harau, they called him Siampa.
In Sumatra, he earned the title Tiger of Mount Marapi.
And in Java... he became known as Bangring.
