She wants to refuse, but as more pressure is put on her, an unknown feeling forces her to do what she believes is right - participating in the contest to please her dad. Cyan, Purple's boyfriend, keeps carelessly hurting her. This leads the girl into thinking of breaking up, which she does. As a reply to this, Cyan decides to make her life less satisfying. A person who Purple finds comfort in is Green - a friend who knows her life story, and who she teams up with at the contest. Despite Purple's refuse, Green decides to practice with her more than she'd want. What he does well is understanding her hard feelings before she does, hopefully leading her to overcoming them. ...Or making the internal struggles even worse. What is the unknown feeling which leads Purple through her life? What is Cyan going to do and who will stop him? Will Purple and Green win the contest? What is going to happen between the two? This poem is an exploration of "no" and the way we are denied its use as children at the expense of our own comfort. The ingrained struggle of politeness versus personal boundaries and the societal expectations that shape how we respond. The way we are held accountable for our inability to use it as adults. And hopefully about finding the courage to assert ourselves as we grow and the silent battles many of us carry.
