essentially, i've always thought that august by taylor swift reminded me of the summer before the last olympian occurs. i mean, percy's off with some other girl for the summer, and it breaks annabeth's heart. so i wrote an angsty AU about it. enjoy :) if you've never heard august by taylor swift, i highly recommend listening to it while you read this, just for context.

Percy and Annabeth broke up right before entering Tartarus (specifically after like chapter three in Mark of Athena or something) Annabeth was too afraid that if they were together that they would put each other in even more danger. They both know that they can't live without each other but refuse to give in. This story takes place right after Tartarus and the end of BoO. Though instead of being flung all the way back to camp, they have to fly all the way back to camp the normal way. And also Leo does not "die" like in the end of BoO. There is a lot of angst and it is a soft fic so I am sorry to all of you smut lovers.
