A middle-school boy reluctantly joins the percussion section after begging his parents to let him join the school band. He thinks he wanted to play saxophone, but he begins to find that he loves percussion more than he realized he would have. Fighting the "stupid drummer" stereotype proves to be difficult, but what happens when the anti-drummers cross the line? They're going to have to face the music.

My name is Alex. I'm mute and go unnoticed through everyday life. I haven't any friends, but that might change during Marching Band season. Alice and Carly refuse to leave me be despite not knowing much, if any, sign language.

I myself am a tenor saxophone player in my high school's marching band. I have actually used most of these on other people. Some do work better than others, but that might be just because I'm a girl.
