He was found as a young boy, homeless under a bridge, and brought into the circus to start a new life. Him and his small capuchin monkey, Marty, perform various acts for the show, and he is known as the monkey boy. When another performer comes into the picture, Frank's life is turned into a completely different perspective. Gerard Way, 'the great, magnificent, fearless, sword swallowing dragon dancer', is just another circus freak. Frank and Gerard grow a strange relationship like no regular circus pals would have, and must keep it a secret, for they can't reveal their true feelings. When they are together, things turn into a little more than a freak show.

They were tossed overboard in hopes to appease the Gods and avoid their wrath that would be shown in storms and rough water- a sacrifice, almost. Athanasia Dimitriou, fair-skinned maiden, rumored to have Greek blood, a runaway to London after the disappearance of her father, and having moved in with an adoptive family. She is keen on boarding the next ship to South America, for the last remaining members of her adoptive family have passed away. Impure, on the run, unmarried at the proper age, she is seen as a walking, breathing sin, and is ready to stowaway on a military traveling to Rio for reasons she cares too less to find out. But they say it's bad luck to have a woman on board.
