April 19th, 1921. Onyx was one of 48 Angels selected to watch over the USA. One angel would be sent to each state, and was to stay for a century while reporting to God a minimum of once per year. Easy right? Onyx had been assigned to Louisiana, specifically Baton Rouge. Onyx had planned to just exist among humans, act as one and blend in. It sounded so much simpler in Onyx's head. Alexander "Red" Beauradox thought he had life pretty well. Working as a radio host, he liked to consider himself a well liked person with an easy life. That is, until he found a strange man standing in his backyard claiming to be an Angel sent by God. Reluctantly offering Onyx a place to stay, Red quickly discovers that living with an angel isn't as peaceful as the Bible makes it sound. Onyx is confused by just about everything-sleep, slang, segregation-and his curiosity knows no bounds.
