It portrays them as teens who don't have any supernatural power and aren't demi-gods. The story is from the point of view of Annabeth and how ways cross for her and Percy in High School and the long distance relationship they share. Alna and Aley are Annabeth's best friends and Aaron is Percy's closest friend ( not to forget that Percy and Annabeth are each other's soulmates and Partner-in-Crime!)
