Dan is the youngest of three, and should be last in line to the throne. His father is deciding who will be getting the throne, after Dans oldest brother ran away with a princess claiming she was the love of his life. Next in line is Dans other older brother, who doesn't really want to be king. So the only person who can take the throne is Dan, but Dan only wants his horse, Magic. Phil is a peasant. For his whole life he has been surrounded by horses because his father owned a horse trading system. One day his father is killed by a frightened horse. Phil's family is running out of money and he has to find a new job to support his family. When he hears that the palace is looking for a new stable boy, he goes to get the job. He is accepted and is given a little cottage for him to move into, alone. He can't bear to leave his family but they need the money. After a few weeks he falls in love with a horse called Magic. Little does he know that Magic's rider is the Dan Howell, the kings youngest son. Will Magic bring them together?

Dan finally comes of age, which marks the time where he is to choose the person he most wants to rule with. Being in control of the element of fire doesn't seem to help him in this case, and it most definitely makes it harder to rule over the factions of the kingdom when they have such separate powers. Trouble escalates when the factions try to rise to power, and Dan has to do something to end it.
