Tensions rise on the continent Vengarra, 17 year old Celina Liona hopes for a fresh start in a city of magick. Joined by her friend Roy, the esteemed Phoenix Scale Academy for mages in the desert oasis of Salvablanca appears to be the salvation they need in order to study their craft without persecution. But Phoenix Scale brings its own challenges. Placed under the guidance of a young mage prodigy known only as Ezme, the two teens are thrust into arenas within the halls of school itself and magickal athletics to earn a spot upon the elite hierarchy. Even worse, hate crimes and corruption surrounds the academy, serving as connections to a rumoured anti-mage cult. Once again Celina faces the dangers that took away her home. Now she must decide to face her shadows while Ezme's own past sets its eyes on her and Roy. When the risk becomes death, will Celina and Roy choose to fight on the side of magick? Or will they accept the genocide of all magecraft?
