Helena Alton accepts a summer position at Wetherbrook Hall, expecting only to maintain the discipline of her student and the structure of her days. But she quickly draws the attention of Reginald Sutton: eccentric, wealthy and far too used to getting what he wants. What begins as pursuit and quiet opposition soon sharpens into a psychological dance of control, restraint and unspoken obsession. Reginald orchestrates a game that shifts the very walls of the house to bring her closer. The question is no longer whether she'll leave, but how long he'll let her think she can. ~ She gasped and twisted, but he'd already swept her off the ground in one ridiculous, showman's flourish. Her feet dangled, skirts swaying, while his laughter puffed warm and self-satisfied behind her ear. "Oh, darling canary" Reginald mused, as though this were all her fault, "you do make it so very easy."

He took a breath, and then began playing. I was enthralled by the first note. The music, though soft and bright, flowed like honey, and I could feel the bubbly, almost whimsical emotion that came through with each stroke of the keys. It was magical, and I found myself closing my eyes and just listening. With one final chord, the music echoed through the room until it faded to nothing, the silence almost overbearing in comparison. aka. Ella knew she was in trouble the minute she saw her cute piano teacher.

A gentle love story about two quiet hearts learning how to trust again. Lila Hart runs a small flower shop where she builds beauty from fragile things. She's used to being overlooked, used to giving more than she receives - until the day Rowan Hale walks in. Rowan, a recently divorced piano teacher, carries a quiet sadness he tries hard to hide. But something about Lila's warmth draws him back, again and again, until their visits turn into long conversations, late-night phone calls, soft touches, and a connection neither expected. As seasons change, so do they. He teaches her that she deserves to be chosen. She teaches him that he doesn't have to carry his loneliness alone. This is a slow-burn, soft and tender romance filled with small gestures, unspoken longing, and the kind of intimacy that grows not from heat, but from trust. A love story that blooms slowly... but beautifully.

Piano practice can be fun too! Most people don't really want to 'learn' to play the piano or 'practice' the piano, they just want to 'play' piano. 'Play' sounds like fun, 'practice' sounds like a chore. We get this image from childhood - some kid stuck indoors 'practicing' scales while all the other kids are outside the window 'playing'.
