This is a Billdip fanfic about how after Bill came back, after devising a plan to exact revenge on the Pines family, gives up everything to start over, finding he can't punish the Pines family. He even thinks he's formed a connection with his adversary, Dipper Pines. But when they get close and Mabel gets shut out, someone else enters in, making promises. Things go horribly wrong, and they all realize everything they've done to protect their friends and family, every choice they've made... They've been playing right into his hands the whole time.

This story is a Fight Falls AU, all the characters are aged up by about 4-5 years, so Dipper and Mabel are 16, Wendy is 20, etc. Cressida is Pacifica's cousin, who lives in France with her parents and sister. Cress comes to stay with Pacifica every Summer, but this time is a little different. She meets someone cynical of everything she is, and while he pushes her away, her curiosity gets the better of her.
