Unyielding in the pride of his defiance, Afloat with none to serve or to command, Lord of himself at last, and all by Science, He seeks the Vanished Land. Alone, by the one light of his one thought, He steers to find the shore from which he came, Fearless of in what coil he may be caught On seas that have no name. Into the night he sails, and after night There is a dawning, thought there be no sun; Wherefore, with nothing but himself in sight, Unsighted, he sails on. At last there is a lifting of the cloud Between the flood before him and the sky; And then--though he may curse the Power aloud That has no power to die-- He steers himself away from what is haunted By the old ghost of what has been before,-- Abandoning, as always, and undaunted, One fog-walled island more. -Edwin Arlington Robinson or A Maxiel fic losely inspired by the legend of the Flying Dutchman

An arranged marriage to an unhinged Duke and a stubborn father is enough to send Anya over the edge, as she is forced to take her life into her own hands. By staging her escape in disguise, Anastasia makes a bid for freedom and sails to the West Indies, and unintentionally falls under the tutelage of notorious pirate lord Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard. She doesn't know what the Caribbean will hold for her, but she's willing to bet that even piracy is better than life at the mercy of an abusive and powerful husband.

In the early 1800s, Edward Consolo was an unknown man with dreams as vast as the boundless sea. Born to a humble fishing family, he yearned for adventure and fortune that lay far beyond his coastal village. But destiny had other plans for him. When Consolo's fishing boat was seized by ruthless privateers, it was a turning point that would forever alter his course. Rather than succumb to the cruelty of his captors, he embraced the pirate's life, learning the ways of the sea and honing his skill with a cutlass. With each daring raid and audacious escape, he shed his anonymity and became a formidable figure, feared across the Caribbean. As the notorious pirate Captain Edward Consolo, he commanded a fearsome crew, terrorizing merchant vessels and amassing a hoard of ill-gotten treasures. His name struck dread into the hearts of those who sailed the high seas, and his legend grew with each daring escapade. Edward Consolo had transformed from an unknown man into a legend of the 1800s, a pirate whose story would be whispered in taverns and etched into the annals of maritime history.

The title Pirate Queen is one rarely uttered, and only with the utmost reverence. For she is the being of nightmares, the threat whispered by mothers to keep disobedient children in line. She is the maiden, adorned in leather, with long black hair cascading down her petite form and a cutlass on her hip. Few who have seen her face have lived to tell of it, and none would suspect the sweet, gentle Fiora Cavanna to be the ruthless cutthroat of legend. Prince Leopold has lived his entire life secluded from the horrors of the world. Although he has trained his whole life to master swordcraft and diplomacy, he lacks real world experience. The rumors of the Pirate Queen and other creatures of nightmare were just that: rumors. Until the day that legend becomes reality, and the paths of prince and pirate cross. Warning, this novel will get violent, as is the nature of piracy. ;) **Update: Chapters 1-5 rewrites are up!**

Tales of a fearsome group of pirates have spread like wildfire in the island archipelago of Stramtor. Tales whispered of a ship that sails under a cruel captain who kills all he meets. Tales whispered to young children in the dead of night of adventure and glory. Tales that cannot possibly be true. A prince whose heart sings for the sea who is willing to destroy himself for his people. A prince whose heart has been promised to a woman who he has never met. A prince who will let his country chain his heart to the land if it means they are safe. What happens when tales are true? What happens when not all tales are what they seem?

Hold on to your cutlasses and join us for the legend of Edward himself, and the fictional (or are they?) events in his life that created the Blackbeard that we know and fear today. We begin with Book One, where it all began. We begin with Edward Thatch.

There are many things that Amberwood is, and just as many that it is not. Take a stroll through the minds of a captive or two, and you will see just how this is so.
