Kitsune: ~Noun~ A Japanese Fox spirit, normally female, said to have powers such as shapeshifting and whose power is symbolized by the increase in the number of tails. Mikoto does not recall who she was before, only what is now. She has the parts of a fox, the shape even if she wishes and control over fire. She does not know her purpose, but she tries her hardest to help children she meets in her travels. This is how she met Jack and quickly a friendship was formed. Now, he is called forward to help defeat Pitch and take his place as Guardian among the big 4. Belief The strongest thing in the world. It can give someone hope when everything seems lost and a feeling of power when you think that you can fight no more. Belief can make anything stronger, more alive and truer. From belief is how many religious gods got a name, how legends and stories are being formed. It all starts with a name and one believer. The light spreads, from person to person and that name gains power. Slowly, it is more believed in and that name gets a form, then a face and then existence. This is how the fairy tails came to be. How the protectors and the enemies of the children appeared and how they exist up until today. However, just like in every situation, there is a catch. A small area that is not white or black but grey. There, no side can be taken, and no rules apply the same. In the case of fairy tales, you have the light side with the Guardians and the spirits; tasked to protect their children. On the other side, you have the Boogieman and those who want to harm and terrorize the innocent bright souls of young children. And in the middle, in the grey zone, you have a single lonely figure with a task no one else wants, a task that makes them receive hatred and fear instead of admiration and love. And that person carries it without a word of complaint. That person is Thanatos but nowadays, she goes by Grim Reaper...the Guardian of Life and the outcast of the Big Five.

What if Pitch Black just wanted to be seen? What if there's more to him and his story? When the guardians came his life changed drastically, but was he ever truly their enemy? The Guardians never reached out to him. They left him to rot under a broken bed. Fear is good, it's good to worry in small amounts. It keeps us safe. What if Jack just, couldn't shake the feeling that the Guardians and the nightmare king could, or should get along?

It doesn't matter, in short fear can mean two very separate things- to forget everything and run or to face everything and rise. You always have that choice to make when confronted; although you may not realize it, or maybe not know which reaction is which at the time. Hindsight is twenty- twenty. Or that's what I'm told, my hindsight never was, there were always too many what ifs in my mind. But that is not the point nor the story you came to hear. What that is, is this, after his defeat by the Guardians, the guardian of fear chose that former option. He ran and was consumed by the very fear he attempted to wield.
