Alex gaat met zijn klas op werkweek en gaat op een dag naar de dierentuin. Als hij langs het apenverblijf loopt trekt een klein aapje zijn aandacht. Het is een baby gorilla zonder vacht maar met enorme wonden op zijn lichaampje. geen van de andere gorilla's in het verblijf interesseren zich in het kleine aapje en Alex vraagt aan een verzorger wat er met het aapje is gebeurt. Als het voor Alex duidelijk is dat hij zo dadelijk getuigen zal worden van dierenmishandeling twijfelt hij geen moment: hij verstopt zich bij het apenverblijf en wacht tot de dierentuin gesloten is. Wat is Alex van plan? #FreeMe is een verhaal over hoe mensen over apen denken en de liefde die maar een klein deel heeft voor apen.
