Planetofplastic Stories

This is a story for the National Geographic contest. It's based in a 12-year-old girl's point of view. What would happen if the water became so polluted, the animals took over the land?

One day in the life of Suzzy and her nephew, little Billy.

It is the year 2148, and global warming has flooded numerous countries. The few remaining humans live on garbage islands, that are floating through the ocean. These islands are the only reason that the human race still survives. Clara lives on one of these islands, her grandparents told her the reason that the flood came, but she came up with her own explanation. The flood came because the big man in the sky was angry. Why was he angry? Because the people were killing the beautiful ocean that he made. She wishes that the people who lived before her put less plastic in the ocean, that way she would have been able to see all the pretty houses and taste ice cream. She wishes they would have put less plastic, so she could have her own dog, like in the books, and see an elephant! She wishes that they had not caused the flood, because then she would still have her sister, Kiki.
