Houses Dawncrusher, Voidwalker, Goldfoot, Boltcutter and Greentouch were balanced by the Empress, who mediated disputes between Highbred Immortals, but she's been absent for ten years and tensions are rising. Especially with House Goldfoot taking liberties with the lands and coffers under other's domains. Peace is rapidly deteriorating and it's only a matter of time before the Empire is tipped back into open conflict again. The way to peace rests in the hands of four very different people: Necessity Dawncrusher, an Immortal Scion; Ayotunde Goldfoot, an outcast; Clarissa Darkstar, an Imperial bastard and Mordecai Amjad, an Earth-born guard. The only thing connecting them are dreams. If only they could understand them.
