Margot Stevens is twenty-one years old and three gap years in too deep. When her girlfriend breaks up with her, she is thrown into navigating the possibility of something new and staying true to herself. Meeting a cute, glasses-wearing guy in a new coffee shop was not something she prepared herself for in the aftermath of her breakup, but now she can't stop thinking about him.
Nick Donahue is nineteen and working in a cafe that doesn't see much traffic. When the prettiest girl he's ever seen walks in early one morning and makes it a habit, he starts writing notes on the lids of her coffee cups, hoping she'll be interested. Easily flustered and just out of an abusive relationship, he learns that maybe love is different from what he thought it could be.

"What are you laughing at?" His smile grows with the question, though his eyes remain confused.
"Your face." I tip my head to the side against the cabinets.
He looks mildly offended. "What about my face?"
I laugh again, lightly. "It's cute." The words slip unbidden, but then I catch a flush creeping over his cheekbones.
Holy shit. I'd forgotten how it felt to make someone blush. Lillie never really got flustered at anything. I found her confidence attractive at the time. But this? The way he's angling his face into the window as if he's trying to hide it? It's a feeling like the time I got high at a party senior year.
He clears his throat, adjusting his glasses.
Fuck, he's adorable.
