"Sunaina Had Nothing Left" is about a girl who spent years silently carrying the weight of everyone around her. She learned from childhood to hide her emotions-to stay quiet when she was hurt, to cry alone, and to pretend that everything was fine. As she grew older, that silence followed her. She began putting her family's needs before her own, spending whatever little she earned on groceries, household needs, and helping her parents whenever she could. She kept sacrificing her happiness, her comfort, and even her own needs because she believed that was what she was supposed to do. But sometimes, a person can keep giving and giving until there is simply nothing left to give. This poem is about that moment-the moment when Sunaina doesn't become angry or bitter. She simply becomes tired. Tired of the guilt, the responsibilities, the constant worries, and of always having to be strong for everyone else. About the Author I am Lavanya Y. Rao, and this poem comes from a deeply personal place in my life. I have been going through many of the emotions described in this poem myself-the feeling of carrying responsibilities, putting others before myself, sacrificing my own needs, and quietly dealing with pain that isn't always visible to the people around me. I wrote Sunaina's story from my own experiences and emotions. Some parts may be written as a story about her, but the feelings behind them are mine. Sometimes, writing is the only way I know how to say the things I cannot say out loud. And this poem is one of those times. If this poem touched your heart, please vote and leave a comment.
