"Ghosted"
Consider yourself ghosted
Consider me free
you no longer exist to me
I'm just part of your "before" now
and there's no room for you in my "after"
I know may exist in the recess of your mind
But you can no longer exist rent-free in mine
Because you never earned your keep
And you never paid a dime
"My gilded, glass cage"
every minute is a gamble
every page a stage
what do I want you to know
without placing myself in a cage
for tangled is the web
we all weave
as we vacillate between the real
and the make believe
for this is how
the poem goes
when you only live life
between the highs and the lows
I'll paint a pretty picture
one you'll all see
and if it ever gets uncovered
that it's not really me
I'll just block out the noise
disappear from the page
and go build a new version
of my gilded, glass cage
"The other day a knife cut me in the kitchen"
The other day
a knife cut me
in my kitchen
but it didn't cut
as deep as you
the drip
drip
drop
of very red blood
on the counters
wasn't as red
as my face
when I cried
when you lied
no, that cut deeper
carved me like a stone
and I
I am remade
not a statue
but just as resolute
you will never cut me again
never find my soft spot
never see my tenderness
never feel my hair against your cheek
I am resolute
