There is a machine that watches over the entire country, understand, and can foresee crimes. The Machine picks out the social security numbers of those involved in a crime, and sorts them into two categories: Relevant and Irrelevant to national security. Every night at midnight the data is erased. The government acts on the relevant numbers, and Harold Finch-the Machine's creator- and John Reese act on the irrelevant numbers. Because of what he was doing, Harold's fiance, Grace Hendricks was put in danger, so he staged his death to keep her safe. But, what would he do if her number came up in the Machine?

An alternate universe where Berwick is someone who studies astrology. This is to make up for the hole in my heart that he didn't get any star-themed attacks even though his TW is literally the name of a star.

Shaw doesn't know why but the minute Finch says 'at any cost' she knows what to do, where to go. She is eighty percent sure - maybe, seventy percent, seventy-five - if Root is still alive then Shaw knows where she would go.

When Reese and Finch first set out to save her they are positive that they can help. Can they really or could this number end up being their most challenging one yet?
